Pulsed photoluminescence and pulsed cathodoluminescence spectra and decay kinetics of nano- and microcrystals of zinc tungstate in the organosilicic matrix compared to a single crystal were studied.

The luminescence decay kinetics and life-time of the excited state depend on the size of particles in the composite materials and on the type of excitation.

The probability of excitation of luminescence centers responsible for the band at 490 nm is higher which is apparently due to the larger capture cross-section and quantum yield.
